Third Generation of Computer || third generation computer used || 3rd generation computers used || third generation computer was based on which technology || third generation integrated circuits || 3rd generation of computer

From 1965 to 1971, computer technology advanced significantly in both hardware and software. Integrated circuits replaced individual transistors, making computers smaller, faster, and more reliable. Mainframe computers remained dominant, but minicomputers emerged as a viable alternative. High-level programming languages like COBOL, FORTRAN, and BASIC made it easier to write and run programs. Time-sharing allowed multiple users to access a single computer at the same time. The third generation also saw the development of the first operating systems, like IBM's OS/360, and computer networks, like ARPANET, which evolved into the modern internet.
